3 Lies the Enemy Tells You About Grace

You Are Unworthy.

On our best days some of us don’t feel worthy of good things in life, Let alone the miracle of God’s gift of grace to us. Sometimes this is low self esteem. Sometimes it is anxiety and depression. Sometimes we don’t even understand grace. How can it be free? It's unmerited favor, a free gift of our salvation. Because God loves YOU! He doesn’t just, “tolerate,” you and your behaviors. He adores you unconditionally. You have to get rid of your inner critic and love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, How can you comprehend God’s supernatural love? Love yourself and believe God.

You’ve Done Bad Things.

Don’t you hate it when someone throws your past up in your face? The enemy is a master at throwing into your mind everything you have deep down in your secret dark place of things from your past. In detail. And then what do we do? We meditate on it and replay it over and over in our minds until we are back to feeling unworthy. 1 John 1:9 tells us,” If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from unrighteousness.” Your past is ancient history and forgotten by God. Even what you did yesterday, God has no memory of. Do you believe it? It is a promise. The next time the enemy throws something in your face, just say, “I am forgiven."

You Have to Earn God’s Grace.

There is only one thing you need to do to receive God’s grace. That is confess your sins and surrender to God’s path for your life. A pastor doesn’t get anymore grace than you do. You don’t get any more grace than a homeless person. We are all children of God with the gift of grace from our Heavenly Father. Sometimes we think works, volunteering, and serving gives us a better chance at grace. God is pleased by those things but His grace is not dependent on that. His favor rests on you because you are His beloved.

Living in God's Gift of Grace

Knowing you have God’s grace forever should bring you great joy! Reading God’s Word is KEY! He shows us what to do and it is filled with 100’s of promises to which His Word will not return void. Give yourself a break. Love that you are special to God and He has a plan. It’s critical that you stay in fellowship with Him. Because then you will believe His grace and you will develop discernment on how to live your best life! You are worthy. You are seen. You are valuable. You are loved.

"God has given his grace to each one of us measured out by the gift that is given by Christ." ~ Ephesians 4:7
