What to Do in a Constant Storm

I don't know if you have ever found yourself in a place where it feels like the rain of turmoil will never end in your life. In all honesty, I am at that place. My storm has lasted since 2017. From a semi truck crushing my car to ulcers and many health problems. Sometimes it feels like you just can't catch a break. Last year I had to cancel an event for the first time in 28 years. It really did a number on me and made me doubt my own discernment and doubt God. The month of April has been a tough one so far. I just got out of the hospital after 4 intensive days of treatment. I had Pancreatitis, a UTI, and Colitis. I have barely eaten anything at all in the last 2 weeks because I was so very, very sick. So what do we do to survive when we are hit with the storms of life?

1. Crucially Watch Your Attitude

When you are beat down, it's very difficult to have a good attitude. It super easy to slip into a pity party. The reason why you want to be in control of your attitude is because God is looking to see if will we give up or trust Him. There have been so many times that I got to the other side of my trouble and God worked it out. Then I felt bad because I wished I had had more faith and a better attitude. It's very important not to allow negative words out of your mouth during these times. Negative words tie the hands of the angels to work in your behalf.

2. Trust Your Deliverer

In all transparency, I have felt distant from God lately. Sometimes we doubt why God allows so many bad things to happen to us. Even though God's Word says He won't put more on us than we can handle, sometimes it doesn't feel that way. Part of it is the enemy is the one at work, trying to destroy us and negate our faith. If this happens, then the enemy wins. We read in Psalm 34:19, "The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time." God doesn't protect us from our pain because it will eventually be part of our purpose. So, keep in your mind: God WILL eventually come to the rescue Every Time! It's God's timing though, not ours.

3. Laser Focus on Your Blessings

Although I have had a rough 3 years, there have been amazing things happen too! On August 7, 2017, I was healed of Fibromyalgia after 15 years! In the first quarter of last year, I published 2 more books! My family is in tact. I've been married 33 years. My children are successful and happy. I have a car and a home. I have pets that I adore. Life is like unpredictable. Sometimes we are basking in sunshine and sometimes we are riding the storm out. Philippians 4:8 tells us, "Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is in us! By setting your mind on the eternal life we have in Christ, we are better able to navigate the storms.

"He is before all things, and in Him all things

hold together."” ~ Colossians 1:17
